The short answer
Bali's best-known beach clubs cluster in three areas. Canggu has the big party names, led by FINNS in Berawa, plus the more laid-back La Brisa and The Lawn. Seminyak has the originals, Potato Head and KU DE TA, with Mari as a calmer option. Uluwatu and the Bukit cliffs have the most dramatic settings, from Sundays on its private beach to the party clubs above Melasti.
Most clubs charge no entry, but you pay through a minimum spend on loungers and daybeds. A sunbed typically starts somewhere between IDR 150,000 and 700,000 (USD 9 to 43) per person, and big daybeds and cabanas run into the millions of rupiah. Prices are usually quoted before tax and service, which add roughly 21 percent.
How beach clubs work in Bali
A Bali beach club is a pool, a restaurant, a bar and a sound system on the sand, open from late morning until late evening. You can usually walk in, sit at the bar or a standing area and pay as you go. If you want a sunbed, daybed or cabana, you agree to a minimum spend on food and drink, sometimes per person, sometimes per bed. On busy days and weekends, the best spots go to people who book online in advance.
Expect resort-level prices for food and drinks, so a minimum spend disappears faster than you might think. Most clubs do not allow outside food or drink, and many have dress codes for the evening. Check each club's current policy and prices on its own website before you go; minimums change often and rise in peak season.
Canggu and Berawa
- FINNS Beach Club (Berawa). The biggest and loudest name in Canggu, with several pools, multiple bars and DJs every day. Entry is free, but premium seating starts at around IDR 2,500,000 (about USD 150). It is adults-only.
- La Brisa (Echo Beach). Built from old fishing boats and driftwood, with a boho, castaway feel and one of the best sunset decks in Canggu. Entry is free, with minimum spends from around IDR 700,000. Kid- and pet-friendly.
- The Lawn (Batu Bolong). A stylish beachfront lawn with an infinity pool and surfers in front. Minimums from around IDR 350,000 per person, with a kids' menu.
- COMO Beach Club (Echo Beach). Calmer and more refined, with quieter music. Non-guests should book ahead.
Atlas Beach Club, also in Berawa, is one of the largest venues on the island and leans firmly toward party crowds.
Seminyak
- Potato Head Beach Club. The landmark, with its facade of recycled wooden shutters, a long lawn and a pool facing the sunset. Entry is generally free, but a minimum spend of around IDR 250,000 applies in the sunset window, roughly 4:30 to 7 pm. Kid-friendly by day, with a strong sustainability focus.
- KU DE TA. One of Seminyak's oldest beach clubs: family-friendly by day, more of a dining and sunset scene by night. Daybeds from around IDR 2,000,000 plus tax.
- Mari Beach Club. A calmer, bohemian option, with entry from around IDR 150,000 per person.
Uluwatu and the Bukit
The clubs on the limestone Bukit peninsula have the most spectacular settings, some reached by inclinators or long stairways down sheer cliffs.
- Sundays Beach Club (Ungasan). A private white-sand cove with calm water for swimming. Walk-in entry costs around IDR 800,000 (about USD 50) per adult, including IDR 500,000 in food and drink credit; children 5 to 11 pay half and under-5s go free. One of the best family days out in Bali.
- Uma Beach House, Palmilla and Minoo (Melasti). A cluster of relaxed clubs on Melasti Beach, from free entry to minimums of around IDR 100,000 to 1,500,000 depending on the seat.
- White Rock and Tropical Temptation (Melasti). The party end of the Bukit, with big sound systems. White Rock's minimums start around IDR 1,000,000 and Tropical Temptation's around IDR 1,800,000; Tropical Temptation is adults-only.
- Karma Beach. Exclusive and secluded below the Karma Kandara resort, with entry from around IDR 800,000 including credit.
Further along, Single Fin in Uluwatu is not a beach club but a clifftop bar above the surf break, famous for its Sunday sessions.
Family-friendly or party?
If you are traveling with children, look at Sundays, Potato Head, KU DE TA, La Brisa, The Lawn and Uma Beach House, all of which welcome kids, and Manarai in Nusa Dua or Roosterfish at Pandawa, which hold foam parties for children. Arrive early, when the music is softer and the pool less crowded. Note that the main pools at some party clubs are adults-only.
For a party, head to FINNS, Atlas or the Melasti clubs on weekends, and check event calendars for guest DJs. For a quiet afternoon with a view, choose COMO, Mari or Palmilla.
Timing the sunset
Sunset in Bali falls between about 6:05 and 6:50 pm year-round, earliest in late May and latest in late January. On the west-facing coasts of Canggu, Seminyak and Uluwatu, the sun sinks straight into the sea, so beach clubs are at their busiest from about 4:30 pm. If you want a front-row bed for sunset, book ahead or arrive by early afternoon and settle in. The dry season, April to October, gives the most reliable sunsets.
Tips before you go
- Book online for daybeds, especially on weekends and from July to August and in late December.
- Read the small print. Check whether minimum spends are per person or per bed, and whether tax and service are included.
- Respect the sea. Not every beach in front of a club is safe to swim; see our guide to the best beaches in Bali for swimming.
- Get home safely. Use a ride-hailing app or a driver, not a scooter, after a day of drinking. Our nightlife guide covers drink safety and getting home.
